Messaging
Text message program
AmberKey sends transactional text messages only. Check-in reminders and account or recovery alerts. No marketing, ever.
You always receive email first. If you add a mobile number, we also text you when a check-in goes unanswered or a recovery is started. The moments a second nudge matters most. If you designate circle members and provide their numbers, they are texted only when a recovery or escalation involving you occurs.
How you opt in
Opt-in happens inside your AmberKey account, on the check-in page, where you add your own mobile number and actively tick a consent box (it is never pre-checked). The form below mirrors exactly what you see and agree to in the app:
How we reach you
We always email you first. Add a mobile number and we’ll also text you if a check-in goes unanswered, or if a recovery is ever started.
Representative form. The live version appears in your account after sign-in.
The details
- Message types: check-in reminders and account/recovery alerts. Transactional only. No marketing or promotional texts.
- Message frequency varies and is event-driven. Tied to your check-in schedule (e.g., every 30, 60, or 90 days) and to any recovery events. Typically only a few messages per year.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
- Opt out anytime by replying STOP to any message, or by removing your number in the app. Reply HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect email or the rest of the service.
- We do not sell or share mobile numbers. Numbers and consent are never shared with third parties for their marketing; they go only to our SMS provider to deliver the messages you signed up for.
Sample messages
- “AmberKey: Hi [First Name], it's time for your scheduled check-in. Confirm your account is active: https://app.amberkey.app/liveness Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
- “AmberKey: A recovery of your vault was started. If this wasn't expected, open your console and check in to stop it: https://app.amberkey.app/liveness Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Not receiving messages?
Because AmberKey's whole purpose depends on reaching you, it's worth making sure our messages get through before you rely on them. If an expected email or text hasn't arrived:
- Email: check your spam or junk folder, and add notify@updates.amberkey.app to your contacts or safe-senders list. Your console's history page shows every message we've sent, so you can confirm whether one went out.
- Text: confirm the number on file is correct (Settings, next to your check-in schedule), that you haven't previously replied STOP, and that your carrier isn't filtering it. Reply HELP to any AmberKey text for assistance.
- Either: your recovery never depends on a single message. Check-ins escalate over weeks across every channel you've set up, and the offline recovery path (your circle's printed cards plus the recovery tool) works with no messages from us at all. Still, if messages consistently don't arrive, email hello@amberkey.app so we can help.
